1. Core Philosophy: Local-First Privacy

Chronexio is designed around a strict local-first engineering model. Unlike conventional cloud extensions that stream your browsing habits and personal notes to remote databases, Chronexio executes completely within your browser client.

All browsing data, note contents, task checklists, and metrics are written directly to an in-browser database running locally on your device. We do not operate remote tracking servers, web trackers, or third-party behavioral analytics scripts.

2. What Data Chronexio Handles

To provide its workspace and productivity features, Chronexio processes the following data locally:

  • User-Generated Content: Your notes, checklists, task items, tags, and favorite pages. This data is created by you and stored on your device.
  • Browsing Insights: Time spent per domain, visit counts, and reading progress. This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded to the cloud.
  • Automated Sensitive Parameter Stripping: Before a URL is processed or indexed locally, Chronexio automatically strips sensitive query parameters (including access_token, id_token, code, session_id, auth, sig, samlresponse, and reset_token).
  • Exclusion of Authentication Pages: Chronexio strictly excludes identity and authentication providers (including Google Accounts, Microsoft, Apple, Okta, Clerk, and Auth0) from page tracking and analytics.

3. Google Account Integration & Cloud Sync

Cloud backup is optional. If you choose to connect your Google account, Chronexio synchronizes your notes, tasks, and settings to your private Google Drive Application Data folder.

Chronexio adheres strictly to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Chronexio only accesses its own dedicated AppData folder and has zero access to your personal Google Drive documents, sheets, or photos.

4. On-Device AI Processing (Chrome Gemini Nano)

Chronexio utilizes Google Chrome’s built-in on-device AI system (Gemini Nano / Chrome Optimization Guide) to power features such as page summarization, automated topic categorization, smart note drafting, and actionable task extraction.

Zero Remote AI Transmission

All AI inference is performed locally on your physical machine (utilizing local CPU/GPU/NPU hardware via Chrome’s native window.ai runtime). Web content, articles, notes, and prompts are not sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Cloud AI endpoints, or external server APIs for inference.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions Justification

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store policies regarding Minimal Permissions and Single Purpose design, Chronexio requests only the permissions strictly required for its features:

Stores local authentication tokens, preferences, and offline cache on your device.

Runs the local SQLite database engine smoothly in the background without slowing down web pages.

identity

Enables the standard Google sign-in window for Google Drive cloud backup.

alarms

Schedules periodic background synchronization and delivers scheduled task reminders.

notifications

Displays desktop notifications when scheduled page reminders are triggered.

6. Data Retention, User Rights & Permanent Deletion

You maintain total ownership of your information. We provide immediate mechanisms to delete all stored data:

  • One-Click Permanent Purge: Open Chronexio > Settings > Data & Cloud Sync > click "Clear All Data". This immediately deletes all local database records (notes, tasks, page states, analytics, settings) and executes an API call to delete all files stored in your Google Drive AppData folder.
  • Google Account Revocation: You can revoke Chronexio's OAuth access at any time via your Google Account Permissions Manager.
  • Uninstalling the Extension: Removing the extension from Chrome deletes all local data immediately.
